It's not the same as a document management system where versions are automatically tracked and presented in a nice, easy layout for you to browse through. Both Word and Acrobat have built-in systems for tracking versions of files, and I know some offices have overcome the learning curve and rely on those features. Most offices stumble because it's complicated to get started. I haven't otherwise found an easy way to handle that in very small offices. I've got it running a couple of places - same software, same interface. It's got a limited role on servers - good for offsite copies of data files but not designed to back up running copies of databases or Exchange, and not really what you want as your primary resource in a crisis.
