Ah - I didn't remember that Billing Matters was already in existence when LexisNexis acquired Time Matters. I don't have any contacts inside the world of certified consultants so I hadn't seen any speculation about the future of the programs, and I honestly didn't expect PCLaw to be the program standing at the end of the day. Thanks!

A useful summary, but with some errors and omissions.
First, Billing Matters was released in 2003, well before the acquisition of either Time Matters or PCLaw. It is certainly the case that most consultants knew that both programs could not continue, LN's protestations to the contrary notwithstanding. Internally, and to consultants, it has been public knowledge that Billing Matters was going to be killed for at least 2 years now.

I completely agree that one consideration for adoption of software is the life expectancy of the program. Equally important, however, is the quality of the software. It appears now that LN is going to promote PCLaw as the "main" practice management software for small firms. Hopefully this means it will get more resources.
